What Joburg Is Wearing Right Now

Forget trend predictions. This is read off real Joburg orders and bags — the pairs the city is actually spending on, the colourways that sell out first, and how people are wearing them from Sandton to Soweto.

What Joburg Is Wearing Right Now

The big three

Three silhouettes dominate Johannesburg orders: Jordan 4s, Air Max 95s and Air Force 1s. It's a city that buys for daily wear rather than for the shelf — which is why the neutral colourways sell out before the loud ones. Black, white, grey and cement move first, every time.

Jordan 4s run from R1,400 depending on the colourway, 95s sit at R1,600, and Forces start at R1,000 — all UK 4–10 with flat R100 delivery.

The climbers

Two pairs have climbed sharply over the last year: Nike Shox and Adidas Sambas. The Shox TL comeback is a 2000s thing that's stuck, and the Samba is the low-profile answer to a timeline full of chunky sneakers. Both sit at R1,400 — the easiest entry into what's current.

How Joburg wears them

Joburg styling is practical: straight or baggy denim stacked on the tongue of a Jordan 4, track pants over Shox, Tech Fleece sets with 95s once the Highveld winter bites. The fit is built around the sneaker, not the other way round.

The unwritten rule: one loud piece per fit. If the sneakers are the statement — a Neon 95, a red Shox — the rest stays quiet.
