Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by Boss Kicks and describes how we handle your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It is not a certification or independent audit.

1. Who we are

Boss Kicks is a South African online sneaker shop operated by the content creator known as Mr Peculiar / Big Boss. For the purposes of POPIA, Boss Kicks is the "Responsible Party" for personal information you share with us on this site. You can reach us any time at support@bosskicks.co.za.

2. What information we collect

We only collect what we need to sell you sneakers and support your order:

  • Account details — name, email, and (if you sign up) a password managed by our authentication provider.
  • Order & delivery details — full name, phone number, email, delivery address and the items you ordered.
  • Payment context — payment method choice (currently confirmed via WhatsApp / EFT). Boss Kicks does not see or store card numbers, CVVs, or bank credentials.
  • Communications — messages you send us via WhatsApp, email, or on social media.
  • Technical data — basic device, browser and analytics information collected automatically when you browse the site.

3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)

Under POPIA we rely on the following justifications:

  • Performance of a contract — to process, confirm and deliver your order.
  • Legal obligation — to keep transaction records required by South African consumer and tax law.
  • Legitimate interest — to prevent fraud, keep the site working, and improve the shopping experience.
  • Consent — for optional things like marketing messages, which you can opt out of at any time.

4. Who we share information with

We share only what's necessary and only with providers that support us in running the store. Current processors ("Operators" under POPIA) include:

  • Lovable Cloud — hosting, database and authentication for the website.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — for order confirmation and customer messages you initiate.
  • Courier partner — receives your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
  • Email delivery provider — used to send order updates and account emails.

We never sell your personal information. We do not share it for third-party advertising.

5. Cross-border transfers

Some of the providers above process data on servers outside South Africa. Where that happens we rely on providers whose terms include protections at least equivalent to POPIA, in line with section 72 of the Act.

6. How long we keep it

We keep order and account records for as long as needed to service your account and meet our legal record-keeping obligations (generally 5 years for tax and consumer records). You can ask us to delete your account and non-essential personal information at any time.

7. Security

Boss Kicks takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe. This includes encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our database, and using reputable service providers. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we treat your data like it's ours.

8. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Object to processing for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) — inforegulator.org.za.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@bosskicks.co.za from the address on your account. We aim to respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies & analytics

Boss Kicks uses a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and keep the site secure. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in future, we will update this page and, where required, request your consent first.

10. Children

Boss Kicks is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
