Running & Lifestyle Sneakers in South Africa

Running silhouettes have quietly become the most worn sneakers in South African cities — mostly off the track. This rail collects the runners people actually wear daily: New Balance 9060 and 550, Asics gel models, Nike Vomero 5 and the Air Max family. Cushioned, neutral-coloured and built for standing in all day.

Daily wear, not race day

Everything here is a lifestyle runner. They are cushioned enough for a full day on your feet, the commute and light training, but we are not selling them as competition road shoes. If you are chasing a marathon PB, buy a dedicated racing shoe from a running specialist — if you want a comfortable sneaker that reads well with jeans or cargos, this is the rail.

Which one suits you

The New Balance 9060 is the chunkiest and the most forgiving on wide feet. The 550 is flatter, more court-shaped and better with tailored fits. Asics gel models sit between the two and usually come in the most neutral colourways. Nike Vomero 5 is the softest underfoot and the one people buy for long days on hard floors.

Care in SA conditions

Mesh uppers and Highveld dust do not mix. A soft brush and a damp cloth once a week keeps the midsole from staining permanently, and letting them air-dry out of direct sun stops the foam yellowing. Our care guide walks through it properly.
