The Samba was built for indoor football in 1950 and stayed a football shoe for decades. Its move into everyday wear happened because the low profile and gum sole read as smart rather than sporty — it is one of very few sneakers that works with tailored trousers.

All four are low-profile Adidas terrace shoes and people mix them up constantly. The Samba is the slimmest, with the T-toe overlay and gum sole — the smartest of the four.
